I was given the opportunity to design a worship experience for Good Friday. Creating the art shown in the Holy Week Art Gallery was the initial and essential part of coming up with the content and direction for that experience so I wanted to share it.
One verse stood out to me as a way to approach Good Friday that honors Christ as the center of worship but also seemed particularly relevant to what people are struggling with right now, every day.
John 13:34 Jesus says “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”
The question for the Good Friday worship experience is how has Jesus loved us - especially as revealed on Good Friday. The stations will guide people through reflecting on that question in different ways that will encourage a personal response and way of discovering what Christ’s presence in their own lives looks like.
If you’re around, please feel free to drop in at the Good Friday Worship Experience at Columbia Presbyterian Church in Vancouver, WA, on Friday, April 19, from 5-8pm. This is a self-directed and open ended experience so come anytime during those hours.
